Departure: Daily within the flowering season Blossom Time: April 15 - April 30 You will be picked up at your hotel lobby at around 09:00am and head for Tiananmen Square. Tian'anmen Square is the largest city square in the centre of Beijing. It has great cultural significance as it was the site of several key events in Chinese history. As the world's largest city square and enduring symbol of China's national pride, it is surrounded by many imposing buildings including the Heavenly Gate (entry to the Forbidden City), Museums, government buildings and Chairman Mao's Mausoleum. After visiting Tiananmen Square, move on to Forbidden City. Forbidden City is the Imperial Palace, home to 24 Emperors between 1420 and 1911. Great squares, halls and gates contrast with the intricate networks of side halls, gardens, courtyards and quarters for those who lived in this 'city within a city'. The exhibitions, both permanent and temporary, are also absolutely fascinating. Then continue to visit Fayuan Temple. Fayuan Temple is situated in Xuanwu District, southwest of Beijing. The Temple was built in Tang Dynasty and is the oldest extant temple in Beijing, with a history of more than 1,300 years. Its building complex is enormous in scale, well-design in structure, symmetric in layout. It now serves as the highest academy of higher education for Chinese Buddhism as well as an exhibition center for Buddhist cultural relics. The plants in Fayuan temple are also with a long history. Lilacs in Fayuan Temple include the purple and white native variety as well as foreign ones reportedly brought from the Malukus Islands by Zheng He, a Ming-era voyager. The best time to view lilacs in Fayuan Temple is mid-April to late April, during which time you’ll be charmed by the sea of lilac Lunch is included. After the tour, you will be returned back to the hotel.
