Weather: May is a good month to visit Changsha weatherwise, but the weather is changeable at the end of the month. It is also an excellent month for Zhangjiajie National Park.
It almost gets hot by the end of the month when summer heat arrives, but at the same time there are thunderstorms and heavy rainfall. The total monthly rainfall is 151 mm.
The average daily high temperature is 26 °C (79 °F), and the average nightly low temperature is a comfortable 18 °C (64 °F). Humidity is 82%, and it is more pleasant weather than the summer.
Pollution: The Quality of Air Index is 92 which is good. Check the Changsha weather and forecast>>
Clothing: Slacks, a T-shirt, and a light jacket is a good combo. Remember rain gear for rainy days. It rains almost half of the days of the month.
The region's favorite shopping pedestrian street is Huangxing Road. The most popular snack street in this city of 7 million features stinky tofu, peanut snacks, and octopus legs. The local food is spicy.
Wulingyuan Scenic and Historic Interest Area is China's most scenic and popular national park. It is about four hours from Changsha. Most knowledgeable tourists think the scenery is the best in all of China. Many people like the climb up 999 steps of Tianmen Mountain. See Wulingyuan Weather in May for more.
The pleasant weather and the May Day holidays make the people crowd into Hunan's main outdoor attractions from April 28 to about May 5. If you go in early May, expect crowds and higher prices for Changsha flights, Changsha hotel rooms, and train tickets. We can arrange these as well as a private transport.
