Chengde attractions are dominated by the Summer Resort. Qing emperors took a fancy to Chengde's pleasant summer conditions and built a large garden, the Summer Resort, where they spent their summers . The garden, with lakes, tree-covered mini-gardens, corridors, bridges, and streams, is truly a feast for the eyes. Temples in the resort wow travelers with their artistic designs and elegant decorations. In addition, a forest park and a grassland area are worth exploring.

Chengde is near Beijing, and a visit to Chengde can be easily combined with tours of Beijing. See China Highlights' Chengde tours and marvel at the spectacular royal garden.

Tailor Make a Chengde Tour

Customer’s questions about this page
Q
Is it possible to go from Saihanba to Hohhot? If not, what are some places that are reachable from Saihanba by bus? I am coming from Chengde and do not wish to backtrack if possible. Thank you!

A Lussie Lu (Jun. 22, 2011) replied:
Dear Edward Nieh,

There is no bus to Huhhot from Saihanba. It's about 800 km between two places and it takes 10 hours at least by bus. It's tired and dangerous to take a bus for a long time. The best way is to go back to Chengde, and then take a train to Beijing, changing a train to Hohhot. You can buy the ticket at the railway station directly or ask the local agent buy it.
