1. Tourist (L) Visa Application

You should apply your visa in the Chinese embassy or consulate of your place of permanent residence or work in principle. If are under special circumstances, you can also go to the nearest Chinese consulate general for visa application. You can submit your visa application to the embassy in person or entrust someone else (family, friend, or travel agent) to do it on your behalf. If you want to travel to Tibet, you should contact the Tourism Administration of the Tibet (Tel: 0086-891-6834313; Fax: 0086–891–6834632) in advance and ask for its approval.

Documents Required

One passport (with at least 6 months validity and at least on blank visa page), one completed visa application form, one recently-taken colored passport photo(no hat, no veiling, two-inch size),the original round-trip air tickets or the order, hotel bookings in China

Fee and Payment Method

You can only pay the visa fee in credit card. Cash and personal cheque are not accepted. The tourist visa is charged on 23 euro and if you want your visa in 24 hours, you should pay an additional fee of 30 euro. If you want to get your visa in fourth working day, you should pay more 20 euro as additional fee.

Processing Time

  • The regular processing time is 10 working day.
  • The embassy also provides 24 hours processing and four working days processing, but it will charge additional fee (30 more euro will be charge for 24 hours processing and 20 more euro for four working days processing).

Visa Pick-Up

You can pick up your visa on the pick-up date specified in the receipt in your person. If you can not get it by yourself, you can entrust some else with the receipt to pick it up on your behalf.

2. Where to Apply

You need to choose the Visa Office of the Embassy or Consulate-General which holds consular jurisdiction over the state where you live. See figure below. Addresses, etc. follow the office hour’s info.

The embassy and the consulates generally have the different visa section office hours. But they will close on Saturday and Sunday and public holiday.

Getting a Visa in Visa Center

1. Tourist (L) Visa Application

You should submit your visa application to the Center in person or entrust someone or a travel agency to submit on behalf of you. Before you submit your visa application, you should contact the Center's website for submission to book visa in advance. You should apply your visa in advance about one month but should not for two months. Post application is not accepted.
If you want to travel to Tibet, you should contact the Tourism Administration of the Tibet (Tel: 0086-891-6834313; Fax: 0086–891–6834632) in advance and ask for its approval.

Documents Required

  • A passport (with at least two blank visa pages), a completed Visa Application Form with a recently-taken colored passport photo(no hat, no veiling)affixed on it, the original round-trip air tickets , hotel bookings in China.
  • Applicants are planning to tour Tibet should provide a visa notification form which is issued by Tourism Administration of the Tibet Autonomous Region.

You should pay visa and service fees when you collect passport. Only credit card and cheque is accepted.

Processing Time

  • The regular processing time is a week.
  • The center provides rush service: you can pick up your visa on the next working day after 3:30pm from the day you submit your application.

Visa Pick-Up

You should go to the center to pick up your visa on the pick-up date specified in the receipt. The receipt must be presented. When you collect your visa, you should pay the fee.
