China Travel Plan

Message started by SixPistols

Hello to everyone!  I'm planning to go to China mid-February and this would be my itinerary [for now, that, is] ---

From Guangzhou ---> Kunming ----> Lijiang ----> back to Kunming then...

Changsha -----> Shanghai  [ final stop].

I'm planing to spend around 2 days in each city with the exception of Lijiang where I intend to stay for 3 or so days.

I really need some tips from those who know since I would be travelling by train thoughout.  I'd like to know about budget accomodation [bed & breakfast, hostel types].  In essence, I would be travelling on a simple budget.

Any info would greatly help.  Thanks and more power to all!  Happy New Year!

Hi, SixPistols,
I'd like to recommend International Youth Hostels to you as it saves your money. It is about rmb80 per night without breakfast. As a backpacker, you need to seek for your meals though it is very easy. There are lots small restaurants near the Hostels. Just do the tour by train, choose hostels, local dishes, then you will enjoy your tour with few penny.

Hey, you know, I have been thinking of visiting China myself... your post just reinforced my plan into a decision. Besides, I just received an offer here http://tinyurl.com/n5lnku that will let me save up to 60% of travel expenses, bringing down my expenses to approx. $94 a night. Will start packing on Friday...

i think kashgar is a place that worth to go. Kashgar is located in Xinjiang province, Northwest China. There is an Old City, which is the best-preserved example of a traditional Islamic city to be found anywhere in central Asia..., i 've post some pics there. http://www.puttles.com/Kashgar-Old-Town_354_0_1

It would be better to take the plane sometimes, as it will take you a lot of time when you are travelling in train. As to the accomadation:
