Guilin becomes EVEN MORE ALIVE at night!

Guilin has a very active night life, not only in the clubs but all around the city. There are numerous late night and even 24 hour restaurants here. There is a special tourist night market that opens up in the evening on a major street next to the city center. Some of the daytime attractions like Elephant Hill, have special romantic lighted tours at night. There are also numerous dance clubs, coffee shops, and  pubs that are open late into the night filled with good food, good drinks and friendly people. In Guilin there is a place called “walking street” that is a favorite place visited by locals and foreigners alike. This place is found near the city center and is the street that many clubs, pubs, coffee shops, DVD stores, clothing stores, and such can be found. There are also some local and foreign musicians that play at different places in town. In fact, I personally have friends in a post-progressive rock band (from Canada and the States) that are doing acoustic sets at a local western/Chinese buffet place in Guilin in the Center called "5 Loaves 2 Fish". [They are playing Friday and Saturday evenings from 5-8pm (just incase anyone is interested and in the area)].

***But I give this caution: If you come to Guilin you may never leave, you may just find a job and stay here forever! Just like me, the "Guilinese White guy"

I can’t agree more. I think the most significant night activitie is the night cruise to the two rivers and four lakes. I attended a meeting in Guangzhou and the host offer an a trip to Guilin which is not know before hand. I accept the offer and enjoy the great trip. Two rivers and four lakes is an inner-city water system. Around the lakes grow bamboo, peach and cassia trees. They are all pretty up with colorful lights. Zigzaging briges leads to the islands dotting on the water, beautiful and quiet.

The main road-Zhongshan road is lit at night and the lakes is brightly colored by lights, forming a grand scene which really with a pause. It is a city of pleasure.

My name is Rick E. Rock and I'm AN American drummer who will be in Guilin to stay and work in China,  arriving around the 20 ith of Feb.

I also sing a little and write good tunes about an album's worth of Chinese Rock love Song's.

Is there any where in Guilin that has a Jam night where I could sit in and jam some because ya just never know. Till you try.

Thank You
