Is a trip to Wuxi necessary?

I once visited Wuxi,a city in China's east Jiangsu Province and find not a interesting thing to see. Now we are planning a second trip to that region and my friend insisted on a day in Wuxi. Is there any thing interesting that you can recommend to us? I am bored at the thought of wasting a day in that dull city.

Generally speaking, the city itselt hasn't much to offer foreign visitors. the Tailake, the largest fresh water lake in China may worth seeing, but you may consider touring the rural areas around the city, which will allow idyllic feel from fish, rice, fruite culture.

depending on what you want to see,  a city owned its historical role after the completion of the grand canal, still some historical sights. The Laihu lake is maily a demestic tourists draw.
