ABOUT PEACH

Peach in China is a very particular kind of tree .This particularity goes as the follows:

In the old times , peach had already carried a very special meaning .In those times , peach was used as something to get away the evil things .For example, in the countryside , when the children got a disease , the parents would not first go to the doctor. Instead they first got a branch of peach and carved it into the shape of someone and put it around the neck of their children. By doing so the parents believe that the peach could function as a protector or guardian.

On top of this, they also put their carvings into the pillow with the same purpose .But this time the pillows are for everyone, not only the children.

We also have some idioms of peach. Among these , one is especially worth mentioning. It is “peach luck”.  “Peach luck” in Chinese means something quite good. When we say to someone wish you peach luck , we are wishing one could fall in love with someone the first moment he or she sees someone. This idiom is used so often that I can nearly hear it everyday. Even to the married couple, this idiom is also suitable. And of course this idiom is not used in a very serious occasion .It is kind of a joke………

when I was young, people in my hometown used peach branches to whip the sick's clothes to drive away the evil spirit. This practice is still conducted today by residents  in some remote areas. Do you beleive that there is a kind of supernational power that dominate this world?

I have heard something about that but can’t remember the place that custom is observed.
As for the supernatural power, although I am quite unwilling to answer your question, I will. The reason is quite easy, I want to tell you from my own experience.
When I was still a middle school student , I considered those who believed the supernatural power superstitious and just shook my head when they tried to give me the explanations .
But one disease when I was a college student changed everything and after that I never showed my cold smile any more. Today I still hold that there are superstitious behaviors but what I also believe is that superstition is completely a different thing from supernatural power .
More details would be given following your questions....
