When traveling around the world, what the tourists worry most must be their safety and security.
So you would probably ask whether it is safe in China?
Well generally speaking, the answer is yes, although in some cases the situation is not so satisfying.
As is known to the people from all over the world, China is today the world’s favorite destination for investment. Their preferences are not only limited to the fact that we have a low-salary labor market though. Their preferences are certainly a careful study of Chinese good social orders.
For reasons I had always had conversations about safety problems with people from all countries. Just one month ago I came across a businessman from the U.S. and we had an enjoyable talk about the safety situation here back in China. He agreed that he had been to so many countries but still believed the safest one was China. His perspective was shared by his friends and they all believed China was the most secure nation, at least in their opinions.
Yes, I do completely agree with them and am proud of this. Take Guilin for example. I have been in this city for many years and am living in a community which takes about half an hour by bus. Sometimes I left home without locking the door (just because I am tooooo forgettable) But when returning home, everything would still be safe and sound. What’s more, I am someone who loves to be alone once in a while and sometimes just walk back home by myself after one day’s work. You know I am at the present a guide and has always to be with my customers until very late. But I had never never put my safety on the list …For many times on the way home at one or two o’clock in the morning you could still see the slim ladies walking on the street with their bags. Nothing happens!
But this never shows that we do not have any safety problems. On the contrary, you do have to attention when you are walking on the street, especially in the evening. Well, you know it’s a commercial time now, and China is no exception. Again, take Guilin for example. In Guilin, there are always people on the street trying to speak with the tourists and claim that they are able to give your money the best value. They are so eloquent that you do not know how to respond (smart ones just walk without responding) and at last jump into their trap. These people are always, although not all the time, money-oriented. They first give you good impression and then seemingly reasonable explanations. But when you offer to continue to the best, you would have to pay unexpectedly high price!
Here is one case happened on my friend. My friend was walking and someone saw him look like a non-local guy. So they had a talk and then offered to invite him to have dinner and promised it’ his treat……My friend believed that and together they came to a beautiful restaurant. That man ordered lots of dishes and then slipped into the wash room and never appeared again. So you know the result: my friend had to pay the bill......
But you do not need to worry so much about that, because so long as you do not believe them nothing happens. And also, everything is always in your good expectations.
At last I want to make it plainly that when traveling you could listen to anyone but be cautious when trying to believe.
But this time you do not have to be this way. You know what I mean: you could believe me……
Best wishes.
