I've read in some China guide books about safety and road conditions in China (especially in the Sichuan district).I s it really risky or dangerous to travel by bus(especially in Sichuan) ? It seems no trains available if travel to Jiuzhai, huanglong....what can you say about the whole thing?

Hi, seaman - Bus travel can be dangerous in all countries. I have traveled for more than 20 cities in China including Jiuzhi Valley. I have found the newer buses to be comfortable and safer. They even have seat belts in the new buses. The buses arranged by travel agencies seem better than those found in the street. A friend told me that only the top bus drivers can apply for the driver positions in travel agencies in China. I hope your travels are also without mishaps.

why not take plane from Chengdu to Jiuzhaigou. The bus trip is really exhausted, time consuming. just imagine you will spend almost 12 hours on a bumping bus...

hi. but China's long distance bus system has several advantages. 1. Over years, China has built a sprawling highway network which goes to every part of the country. Some remote regions, particularly in the west, are often inaccessible by train(not to mention plane) or only be reached via aeduous, in direct routes and in these areas, bus become the primary and essential mean of transportation.   2. Tickets are often easier to get than train tickets. Almost all major cities and towns have long distance bus station. Tickets are sold at the bus station and usually need not be booked in advance.
