Hi, Holy land, did you hike along the Tiger Leaping Gorge? My friend did it last year and she told me that's the highlight of her yunnan trip.

Wow, that is great a picture, so many people there, waht are they doing? women army?
We only hiked part of the Tiger Leaping Gorge. The Gorge is so deep that it is 3900 meters from the water to the snow capped mountain tops. We hiked the upper part of the gorge along the a road hacked from the sheer cliff, a great experience.
When is the best time to hike the gorge? I have heard reports of some visitors buired in landslide when they were treking in the area and is it safe to do that alone?
thanks
Edward

Avoid the rainy season from May to August when water regularly generates landslide and block roads in the area. The best time, I think september and October may be the best seasons. You'd better to find travel buddy to do that with you.
Seems a great place. I visited silk road months ago and find the region is " another world".
Your pictures are impressive. I am wondering do I need a special permit to enter Yunnan? I know you need one for Tibet.
Hi Griet, you don't need a special permit for Yunnan, as long as you have a visa for China, you can go to Yunnan.
hi, it was a great experience to read and view the photo you posted .......thank you
