Taxis in China, what are the possibilities?

Hi!

What are the realities with taxis in China? Is there any possibilities to get a safe taxi with seat belts to everyone and so on? How should one proceed with this? Are there some offices or so somewhere where one could order a better taxi? Of course this must be a matter of money, but we are willing to pay for safety.

Hi Sari
Taxis in major cities are safe and with belts. There is no need to book or order before hand, there are many on the street, wait outside of hotels, shopping malls. There are also different kind of taxis, newer or older taxis, it is your choice to take whatever kind of taxi when you are in China. During rush hour in Shanghai, you may need to wait longer for taxis, but generally speaking, it won't be a problem to get a decent taxi.
