China 2008 - train travel

Message started by Pedro Martinez

Hi there !

I'm planning a trip to China 12th to 28th July 2008
My route is Beijing-Chengdu-Emei Shan-Shanghai
and I have a few questions concerning train travel:
1. Is there any problem in booking a train ticket for hard sleepers in your hostel?
2. Does buying a hard sleeper ticket guarantee that you will have a reserved bunk (and is the bunk no. on your ticket.)
3. Are the train numbers written in Chineese only? Will I have a problem to find the right platform of departure of my train on the station if I don't read Chineese?
4. I'm travelling with my girlfriend - how can I make sure that our tickets will be in bunks next to each other?

Many thanks for your answers!

As i know, nowadays big train stations give their announcement in both Chinese and English. all the train tickets are writen in Arabic numbers. If you get to the station earlier and listen carefully, you will not get to the wrong platform.

What is the fastest way by train from Xiamen to Beijing? How many hours will the journey take.

Hi, Hugs,

It is free to entry China for you since you a Singaporean citizen, but please note that you could only stay less than 15 days in China.

Hi, Hugs,

It is better for you to double confirm your visa issue, please refer to http://www.guilinchina.net/customer/get_a_visa.htm.
