How Chinese celebrate Christmas? Are there a lot of Christians?

December 16th, 2005, 2:18

There are many christians in china now and they celebrate the Christmas as the same way of the westerns but the non-christians regards the holiday of thing like chinese new year. They have get-together parties with family members or friends, cooking and eating special foods. Amazingly, the holiday is much more a valentine's day for the young in China.

I found Christmas in China more “merrymaking” these years than that of before, and I felt more “festival atmosphere” than the Chinese New Year. It is hard to believe. The street fills with people, shops are all decorated, traffic Jams are every where, people strokes on street with shining plastic tubes, going to parties, floods to churches to see celebrations. I was in Southern China last Christmas, to my surprise, the “The Chinese Comm.unist Youth League” had a big celebration with songs, dances, poem reciting and short story telling in a big square. Seeing how the Chinese get exited with Christmas without even knowing why they are celebrating and what for is a great fun. [image]http://www.shm.com.cn/images/2004-12/20/xin_231201200814127293049.jpg[/image] A famous Chinese star learn how to decorate a cake for Christmas. Christmas in China: The Children are the main focus on this celebration. They receive toys and other gifts from parents and relatives. Shops, restaurants and other public places are decorated with Christmas tree and sent gifts to clients.....
