Recently heard of some one talked about Yellow Mountain (huangshan). They all said it worthes a visit. I am now planning to go there alone. Is there any suggestions, transport, meals, hostels? when will be the best season to there? Thank you. Cheers Robert
Dear Robert,
surely you can visit the Yellow Mountain during the winter time. Huangshan is located in the subtropical zone and winter here is not so cold as the northern China. Junuary is the coldest season with a average temperature of 5 degrees centigrade. snow is very common in winter; when snow comes the whole mountain is a world of silver dream.
some tips on touring Huangshan in winter:
1. bring enough warm clothes with you. The temperature differs greatly between daytime and night.
2. have everything arranged beforehand. hotels top on the mountain often heavily booked.
hi, here i have more questions about touring Huangshan.
question1. I have learned there are several cable cars carring visitors to the top of the Mountain, But which one should I take?
Question2: how about the road condition on the top during the snow season? tough to getting around?
Q3: when is the best season to visit the mountain?
Spring should be the best time to visit Huangshan, when you can enjoy wild flowers, plants and waterfalls, and the weather is comfortable, neither too cold nor too hot.
Spring should be the best time to visit Huangshan, when you will enjoy wild flowers, plants and waterfall during the abundant rainfall, and best of all, the weather is comfortable neither too hot nor unbearably cold. Winter in Huangshan is bit cold and snow are common, yet it is a good time to enjoy the unique snow scenery.

There are two cable cars-Yungu Cable Car, on the eastern side and Jade Screen Cable Car on the Western Side. Most of the tourists would take the Yugu Cable Car (on the eastern side) up the mountain, for the terminal is closer to the major hotels up the mountain. But if you do not want to enjoy more scenery, you can try the Jade Screen Cable Car. But you will walk about 3 hours before you get to one of the major hotels up on the mountain.
