Better to stay in Yangshuo itself or farther out?

Hi,

I've been looking at staying at the Yangshuo Mountain retreat during the upcoming October Golden Week. We have only 3 full days and will be focusing on the outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, kayaking, etc. In the evenings we'd like to wander and explore the town.

Is it best for us to stay there, or closer in to town? Will we have issues getting a cab back to Yangshuo at night? Is Yangshuo usually really crowded at this time? If we do stay in town, will we have as easy access to outdoors activities as we would at the Mountain Retreat?

Hi, it is good for your to stay there. It is a little far from the town, about 20 minutes by car. It is difficult to find a cab to Yangshuo at night there. So it is not a good idea to stay there if you want to see Yangshuo at night. It will be crowded during the time. The best way to solve your transport is to ask help from the hotel. They might help you with that.
