How to get to Yangshuo from Xian

Message started by frank272829

Hi,

I am spending 20 days or so in China.

Planning of going from Beijing to Xian to Yangshuo & then flying out of China from Hong Kong.

What is the best way to get to Yangshuo??? (fly in to Guilin?)

How long would you think of staying here? I was thinking 6 days (4 in Yangshuo & 2 in Pingan and Jinkeng).

Easy to find accommodation in these places? And possible to cycle around each of them???

I know basic questions but I hope you can help.

Thanks!

Hi,
The best way to Guilin is taking flight.  According our experience, one night in Guilin, three nights in Yangshuo, one night in Pingan is wonderful. It is very easy to find your hotel and to find a local guide to cycle with you.

Hi Frank

I have just come back from Guilin  and Yangshuo as part of a 4 day tour. Take the Li River Cruise to Yangshuo, it is really worth it. When you get to Yangshuo, remember to bargain while shopping. I travelled with a girlfriend, and we purchased items less than half the asking price.

Have a good trip

When you land in Guilin, you'd better get a taxi from airport to Guilin railway station since there are many shuttle buses from the city to Yangshuo. 15RMB and 1.5 hours is OK.
Actally, Yangshuo and Pingan are both attractive sites, I suppose 4 days in Yangshuo and 2 days in Pingan is a good schedule. You should rent a bike to cycle around Yangshuo or do some cruise along Li river. Jinkeng rice terrace is one of the senery ports in Pingan, claming to the top and having a bird view should be an exciting thing, especially in fall season. besides, you are easy to find accommodation except the first week of Oct.
I gonna to Yangshuo in the last week of this month for my holiday, maybe I can help you since I have been there for many times. Pls. feel free to contact with me.

In the middle of Sep, I will fly to GuangZhou and from there go to Yangshuo. I plan to take a train to Yangshuo from Guangzhou but dont know where the train station in Guangzhou and I just find the train schedule from Guangzhou to Guilin not Yangshuo. From Guangzhou airport, which bus should I take to go to the train station? Could I buy a train ticket and go to Guilin immediately? Cause I searched the departure time is 17PM.

Dear Kitty08,
I could judge that you want to know where the station is in Guilin. There are stations in Guilin but not in Shangshuo. You could take a train from Guilin Northern Train Station to Guangzhou. There are lots of buses  or taxi between airport and train station. You could pick up one of them from airport to the train station.
Trains to Guilin from Guangzhou: T38/39(1952-0642) and K36/37(1740-0651). It is about 11 hours. Before you leaving airport, you could check it out that how much the airfare from Guangzhou to Guilin. You might get a good discount as low as that of a train ticket price. Usually you could buy a train ticket there.
Good luck.

Dear Morgen,
Thank for your reply. As your instruction, after arrived in Guangzhou, I could buy a train ticket to Guilin at the airport => Take the train T38/39 or K36/37 to Guilin Northern Train Station => Take a shuttle bus to Yangshuo. Am I right? Is it safe for taking a train to Guilin alone? Do I need to book a hotel first in this season? Which is a better choice between a local guide and local tour? How much does it cost for rent a hotel room/ local guide and local tour there?

Yes, you are right. It is safe on the train from Guangzhou to Guilin. Be alert when you are at a train station because there are so many people around you.  You do not need to book a hotel there first. Choose a local guide when you are there. It is easy and costs less.  Not sure how much. Chop your pencil when you are there.
Good luck.
