Hi, I will bring my family to China for about 10 days tour in next month but unfortunately we hit the Chinese Spring festival time. i know that's really a bad time for traveling in China. You will view nothing more than the crowds everywhere and transportation, accomodation-everything is hard to come by. Should I change our tour time but that is a tough job for i have everything arranged in advance? what' are your suggestions? any idea is welcome.

I don't think it is a bad idea to travel to China during the Chinese Spring Festival, it is not as crowded as the Chinese National day and May Holiday in the tourist attractions, because most of the people will stay with their families.   The advantages are: [ol][*]Lesser people in tourists attractions than those days during other time. [*]Great time to see locals, more crowds on streets or villages if you want to see people. [*]You will be able to see more authentic celebrations such as Dragon Dancing, Lion Dancing, NiuYangge (traditional dance in northern China) and other celebration.[/ol] Disadvantages: [ol][*]Too crowded if you want to travel on public transportations such as train, long distance buses. Flight will not be too crowded becouse majorities are still using trains. [*]Cold in Northern China.[/ol] Suggestions: [ol][*]Try to avoid Trains, buses, use private car or bus as means of transportation in cities. [*]Make flight and hotle reservation before hand. [*]Try to see some villages or even families and to celebrate with the locals, great fun and experience.[/ol] Victor

It is ok to visit China during the Chinese New Year and best of all, you can have a traditional Chinese New Year here: posting red couplets, lighting firecrackers, having New Year Feast and enjoying the New Year Shows and so on. China has many unique things to offer you duiring this special time. But make sure bring warm clothes with you if you will go to the north China. It will be very cold there. happy new year your friend RuRu

Prepare some "red-envelop" which contains 10-50yuan inside, offer to kids when you see them to show your friendship since it is Chinese custom to do that. You don't have to give every one, only those you know. It is a great fun to play with kids. Also, play a lot of fire works in country side where fire work it allowed. Hey, I found not many locals travel in China this year. They must stay at home.

The recent holiday time was amazing. this year the government were very generous allowing people to light firecrackers in my city and i really have a great time enjoyed the firecrackers show. I just stayed at the balcony of my house, pluged my ears( the noise of lighting firecrackers could be deafening) and noticed that the city was lit up with the glitter from firecrackers. Many families stayed for that joyfull moment.
