Hi everyone,

My fiancee and I just recently became engaged, so we were planning to take a short trip to Guilin for a part of our Eastern honeymoon, but prior to planning any tour or details like that I was just wondering what vaccinations and/or medications are required before travelling to Guilin and the surrounding area.  Also, what other vaccinations would you recommended that are not necessarily required, because its always better to be safe than sorry =)  I already had my hepatitis B shots in middle school, but beyond that I don't know what else is required.  thanks!

As far as vaccinations go, it is recommended that you take the following vaccinations, especially if you are travelling to remote areas. - Hepatitis A (sometimes referred to as Havrix) - Hepatitis B - Typhoid, Thyphrix Some vaccinations that you should consider (or may be recommended if you consult a doctor) would be rabies or Malaria (depending on the season). If you would like to prevent your stomach from doing some gymnastics while you are here, you could take Dukoral as a precaution. ;) Also remember that vaccinations don't make you invincible, it cannot act as a substitute for general common sense. Eat and drink safely, follow general safety guidelines when you are in China.
