Who have been to the twon of Yiwu?

Hi, it is a small town along the ancient tea-horse road in Yunnan province? Anyone who have ever visited there may be kindly enough to share some experience? i am quite interested in that place.

The twon was belived the starting point of the Tea-Horse Road, a trade route connecting the agricultual central China and the frontier Nomadic areas. The town is notable for its Pu'er Tea.

Yi Wu is a little city, famous for its huge market,  in Zhejiang province, not in Yunnan. There are many foreingers from different countries of the world have their businesses and lifes in the little city. I think what you are talking about is a small village in XIshuangbanna. The place is believed to be one of the birthplace of China's famous Pu'er tea but I do not think there is much to see in that village which is filled with dilapidated houses . They say it's an important post on the ancient trade route but few traces exist today. Of course if you want to buy Pu'er tea, you might find it's good place.

Yiwu itself is very small
but it is a good way to access remote places of Xishuanbanna and quit the tourist flow.
You can try to ask local people to bring you to some tea plantations...
Yiwu is said to be part of the 6 old Pu'er mountains,
but new mountains are now more popular for producing and buying tea (Bulang shan, etc.)

Do remind it is a bit of a mess to go there and even more to get out if you don't have your private car, you might be bound to stay overnight.
