Olympic hotel booking

Advanced booking in Beijing hotels is getting hot when there is only one year ahead of Olympic Games.

Beijing has promised to International Olympic Committee to provide 800 star grade hotels and 130,000 rooms at least during the Games. Up to now, 725 star hotels and more than 110,000 rooms have been available. More than 50 hotels above 3 star grade are under construction or rebuild which are sure to go into service before the opening of the Olympic Games.

"30% of our rooms have been booked and the deposit has been paid." said Zhai Liping, sales supervisor of marketing department of Beijing Huang Yuan Hotel.

Many economic hotels also accepted team booking. The reception peak is expected from August 6th to 25th during the Games.

I heard that the Chinese capital is short of hotel beds during the 2008 summer olympic when huge number of visitors swam in to the city. Is that true?
