i will be in Shanghai the 3rd week of October and plan to take a day trip to one of the watertowns. I am trying to decide between Tongli and Xitang. I would appreciate some oppionions.

Tongli or Xitang, wich to visit?

I haven't been to those towns, but generally speaking, Tongli is much more widely heard than Xitang.

That's sure that Tongli is more famous but much more crowded. If you are seeking authenticity, you should go to the off-beaten Xitang.
