We are a family of four and  planning a 30 day trip in China. We have already had 20 days arranged.  Cities includes Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Guilin, Shanghai and surrounding area, Xian, Beijing. For an extension, we would like to ski somewhere which is not so far from the cities we are going to.  By the way, we are all beginners except my wife.

Where locates the best resorts in China? Can I find one just close by? Should I book through travel agency in advance? Not enough info online right now. Thanks

Hi, Ronkala, welcome to China! The best ski resorts in China locates at the northeast part. Yabali ski resorts, Alshan, changbeishan and beidahu ski resorts are very famous in the world. They are the training base for the Chinese skier and places for national and some international ski events. With the best nature enviroment and service facilities, here you will have a wonderful ski experience in China. However, there are also some ski resorts around Beijing for family use. The beginners, kids will enjoy themselves there. Detail information of all major ski resorts in China are provided on the following page: http://www.chinahighlights.com/travelguide/ski/index.htm

Hi, Ronkala, I forgot to tell you that you may need to book in advance if you want to ski there during the period Ice & Snow Festival held( Jan 5- Feb 5). As you will take an extension trip, it is easy to get it arranged by a travel agency inluding flight or train tickets and accomodation.

Call the guys at localnoodles.com.  They run a trip up to the local ski resorts every weekend.  I've attended one of their trips and had a great time.

A poem named 'snow' written by the late Chairmen Mao goes like this: North Country scene A hundred leagues locked in ice A thousand leagues of whirling snow. Both sides of the Great Wall One single white immensity. The Yellow River' swift current Is stilled from end to end. The mountains dance like silver snakes And the highlands charge like wax-hued elephants, Vying with heaven in stature. On a fine day, the land, Clad in white, adorned in red, Grows more enchanting. Although it is not as enchanting as what the poem said, Beijing is a good place to ski which has attracted more and more ski-lovers. The greatly-improved ski equipments, facilities and the implement of the artificial snow technique have contributed a lot to the development of the Beijing Ski industry. As the ski sport became more and more popular, Beijing is bound to be a hotspot. Join us to the big white snow world! http://www.beijingimpression.com/theme-tour/beijing-ski-tour.html
