China's Railway Bureau has recently announced its plan to add more train services to the Qinghai-Tibet railway to cater to the increasing demand of train travel outside Tibet. The added train service will operate from 2nd August to 18th October, covering Tibet's "Golden Travel Period". The period of August to October is considered as the best time to visit Tibet due to its hospitable weather condition.
Ticket for the new supplementary train has been available on sale since 25th this month. The Lhasa train station begins to sell tickets 10 days prior to the departure, an exception of the conventional practice of China's rail system, which do not accept booking until 2 days prior to departure.
