Hello, Tomas. Here to answer your question. Tourism in Tibet is in its infancy and the number of 4 star hotels is quite limited. The newer hotels have been built away from the city center to protect the city's history and environment. These hotels have central heating which is used in winter but no cooling is available in summer. We would still warn that the facilities and service standard may not be as you would expect from a hotel with this rating in other parts of the world. Older hotels located in the city have a good location but will not provide the level of comfort of the newer hotels and may not have any central heating. The level of service and facilities may be quite basic. Staff will probably not speak much English. Hotels in small cities and the Everest Base camp are very basic. They will usually have a shared bathroom with squat toilet.
This is the beautiful scenery of Tibet. Find more at : http://www.chinahighlights.com/photo/nyingchi/
Hotel facililites are quite simple and problems of power-cut, wrong shower etc occur occasionally in rooms in some hotel. I traveled Tibet few weeks ago and we stayed at a hotel not far from the Potala Palace(sorry but forgotten the name of that hotel). The surroundings are very nice and we can view the Potala Palace from our room but the problem was that we had a wrong shower which did not work. I called the workers for help and they repaired it for us but it went wrong again after being working for a few minutes. But the scenery of Tibet's capital is inspiring and beyond any words' description.
We will travel to Tibet last month and we will stay one night at the capital Lhasa then go to Shigatse. Any there any hotels can anyone recommend to us?
