The best season for touring Tibet is from April to October. However winter also shouldn’t be excluded for the golden time of various route differ: In conlcusion, area around Lhasa, like Tsedang, Shigatse are always shining with its breathtaking scenery all year around with temperate weather and good tourist facilities. While in the south, the border of Nepal/China, is not available for tourists from December to Next January because of heavy snow. August is also not a good time to visit there for its everlasting rains and seldom occurred landslide.
Robert, I am not sure which part of Tibet you are going to visit. Some suggestions of the east area travel for you, July, Aug and winter are extremly hard to travel there except you want to adventure. And north part of the Tibet is high with an average altitude at 4,500m, you can enjoy the beauty of the montain even in summer.
I am also planning a trip there next year. Any information about it would like to share.
Tks, tina. It is good for me. I will make a trip there this november. I am trying to get my visa and international flight tickets.
i think summer must be avoided or your skin will be badly burn. summer there is crazy. the sun is as fiery as flaming fire.
Yes, It was hot, but worthy to go. I went there in August, which is considered to be the hottest season of the year, our local travel agent in Tibet told us that August is the busiest month of the year for Tourism. I guess most people still willing to go in summer.
