Xinjiang is replete with ancient vestiges, town ruins, Buddhist caves, ect. THe most famous two town ruins are the Gaochang and Jiaohe. Many travelers prefer Jiaohe to Gaochang, because it first is bigger, more able to wander at will and in spectacular surroundings. The place is especaily good in the evening as the wind comes in and the imagine would also be great early in the morning.
