I spent serveral days in Yunnan-China's southwest region this November. I visited the ancient towns of Dali and Lijiang, Zhongdian, experiencing the culture of Bai and Naxi minority groups and a taste of Tibet in Zhongdian. most of all i get the useful firsthand experience to share with you. I hereby give some tips of touring Yunnan.   1.     Altitude sickness may occur here (elevation of 3300km on average). Though it is much lower than the roof of the world, Tibet, precautions should be taken, like assuring you are in good health before going. 2.       Best time to visit is Spring and Autumn. The strong sunshine may burn you in summer and in winter, the wind is strong enough to make you turn around. 3.       Take warmer clothes with you than in other eastern cities in China. The temperature differs a lot between the day time and night. 4.       Try to stay in a better hotel if you come in winter. Some poor ones even haven't been equipped with air-conditions .

I visited Yunan last summer. For the strong solar radiation there, i had my burn badly tanned.

I visited Yunnan last week. It was very cold there at early morning and night but still blistering hot during the daytime. The solar radiation is extremely strongly because of the high altitude of the land. It seems a huge local population engaged in tourism. You will definitely encounter those people who either want to sell you their tourist souvenirs or offer you a ride to tourist sights wherever you go. I find the local food in Dali tastes strange and the food option is very limited. People in Kunming and Lijiang are less friendly than those in Dali. The area features diversed landscape with high mountains, pure waters, fertile plains.
