I just got back from my trip to China and it was amazing! The trip was so much more than I could have ever expected! I would have to say that my most memorable experience was the day spent in the Hutong. It was nice to sit back, relax, and escape the touristy parts of Beijing..
My group was very active so we decided to head to the part of the Great Wall without the cable car. Our guide, Nancy, was very accommodating with our request to spend extra time on the wall. I highly recommend the part of the wall across the river. It is a harder climb. . . some of the steps are VERY steep, but the payoff is worth it. It was much less crowded and more enjoyable. I also managed to get some photos of the wall without hundreds of people on it!
On a long, hot day, the golf cart at the Sacred Road is well worth the money. I was able to get plenty of great photos, see all of the statues, and give my feet a well deserved rest. This was especially important after spending the morning on the wall. Since some members of our group walked instead, it was also nice to sit down for the extra 10 minutes while waiting for them.
