The Great Wall at Huangyaguan is characterized as being "impenetrable, dangerous, old and beautiful". Huangyaguan Great Wall was part of a complete fortification consisting of a four-gated fortress, and thick city walls. This precipitous wall clinging to the steep mountain has served as the guardian of Tianjin for centuries since its completion over 1,300 years ago. Sunsets at the Huangyaguan Great Wall, with the glorious reflection off the yellow cliffs, can be overwhelmingly beautiful.
