This tour will take you to visit Shanghai’s fantastic neighboring city of Suzhou. Your guide will pick you up from your hotel in Shanghai and you will take a 90 minutes’ drive to Suzhou, where you will spend a short time sightseeing at the Humble Administrator’s Garden. The Humble Administrator’s Garden was a private residence of Lu Guimeng, a Tang Dynasty scholar. A famous writer in the Qing Dynasty, Cao Xueqin, once spent his teenage years in this garden. The Humble Administrator’s Garden was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for being the largest and one of the best representatives of Chinese classical gardens.
After your visit to the Humble Administrator’s Garden, you will take a 50 minutes’ drive to Tongli water town on the outskirts of Suzhou. Tongli has a history of over 1,000 years. It preserves the traditional layout of a water town for good presentation. Local people maintain their traditional lifestyles.
A boat ride will be provided for you to fully enjoy the scenery of the water town as well as to experience the local people’s lives. You will be transferred back to Shanghai when you have finished the tour.
