1. Tourist (L) Visa Application
Mailed applications are not acceptable and will be returned. You may submit the application to the Consular Section of the Chinese Embassy which holds consular jurisdiction; if you cannot go in person, you may entrust someone else or a travel/visa agent to submit your application. No appointment is required.
Documents Required
A neatly filled out Visa Application Form, valid passport (with at least 6 months validity and at least two blank visa pages), a copy of the passport information page, a recently-taken color photo (2×2 inch in size) which needed to be attached to the application form. Different documents needed for different purposes:
- Visiting friends or relatives in China: please provide a copy of round-trip flight ticket, hotel reservation; a signed invitation letter (in Chinese or English , specifying the applicant's name, position, relationship and including the invitee's profession, address, and telephone and fax numbers) ;
- Applying for a special tour (including self-driving, hiking, cycling, horse-riding, hot air balloon, mountaineering or other expeditions)to China: please provide an Invitation Letter of Duly Authorized Unit issued by the China National Tourism Administration or the tourism administration of related province, autonomous region or municipality directly under the Central Government or the General Administration of Sport of China;
- Non-Finnish citizens: please provide the original and a photocopy of your permanent residence or work permit (with at least half a year validity remaining);
- People who are visa or permit exempt for residing or working in Finland: please provide the original and a photocopy of the valid Kela Card in Finland;
- Going to the Tibetan Autonomous Region of China: an entry permit issued by the local Tibetan Tourist Bureau (Fax number of Tibetan Tourist Bureau: 0086-891-6834632; Telephone number: 0086-891-6834313).
Fee and Payment Method
Visa fees are closed related to your nationality and your numbers of entries or duration of stay. Check the following fee list for reference payment. Cash or personal checks are not acceptable. Please pay by Visa, MasterCard or Visa Electron. Fee List:

Note: Due to reciprocity, visa fees for some countries may differ from the above list, and they will be charged accordingly by the Chinese Embassy.
Processing Time
- The regular processing time is 4 working days (e.g. submission on Monday, pick up on Thursday).
- Express service: 2–3 working days processing, extra EUR23will be charged per visa.
- Same day rush service: additional fee of EUR33 for 1 working day processing (Such applications should be submitted before 10:00am and may be picked up between 11:00--11:30am on the same day.)
Visa Pick-Up
Visas can be picked up on or after the pick-up date specified in the pickup form (pink colored). The receipt must be presented. Applicants can pay and pick up visas themselves or send an entrusted person or travel agency with the pick-up form.

Office Hours
The Consular Section usually has the same visa section office hours: 9:00am–11:30am. It is closed on Saturdays and Sundays, and the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Spring Festival, Tomb-sweeping Day, International Labor Day, Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, Chinese National Day and Christmas Day.
