1. Tourist (L) Visa Application
Mailed applications are not acceptable. You may submit the application to the Consular Section of the Embassy yourself; if you cannot go in person, you may entrust a travel agency to transact your application affairs. If necessary, you may be required to take an interview.
Documents Required
A neatly and completely filled out Visa Application Form, the original passport (with at least 6 months validity and at least two blank visa page), one photocopy of the passport page containing the personal particulars, and a recently-take passport style photo color photograph of the applicant; if visit for the first time please provide an invitation letter (if the applicant cannot provide an invitation letter, please provide a visa recommendation letter from the applicant's employing company/organization, etc.); proof of relationship, photocopy of the identity document and residence permit of your Chinese relatives; other additional documents required according to the merits of each applicant ,such as bank statements, round-trip air tickets booking, etc; if the applicants want to travel in the Tibet Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China, please get travel permit of the Tibet Tourism Bureau (TTB) through travel agencies , and provide the Notification of Visa Application issued by TTB.
Fee and Payment Method
Visa fees are charged differently according to the applicant’s nationality. The following fee form is for reference payment. Nepali citizens please Pay Rupee in Cash; others please pay US dollars in cash.

Processing Time
- The regular processing time is 4 working days (e.g. submission on Monday, pick up on Thursday).
- Express service: 2–3 working days processing.
- Same day rush service: 1 working day processing.

Visa Pick-Up
Visas can be picked up on or after the pick-up date specified in the receipt. The receipt must be presented.

You need to go to the Consular Section of the Chinese Embassy. See figure below. Addresses, etc. follow the office hours information.
Office Hours
The Consular Section of the Chinese embassy usually has different visa section office hours: 9:30am –11:30am(on Monday, Wednesday and Friday) for visa Application and document legalization; 2:30pm – 4:30pm(on Monday, Wednesday and Friday) for fee payment, visa collection and document legalization; and it is closed on the following holidays: Chinese Spring Festival and Chinese National Day.
