1. Tourist (L) Visa Application
You may submit the application to the Visa Office of the Embassy or Consulate-General which holds consular jurisdiction over the district where you live in. If you cannot go in person, you may entrust someone else or a travel/visa agent to transact your application affairs. No appointment is required. You should apply your visa before your trip for about a month. Mailed application is not accepted.
Documents Required
- For individual: A valid passport (with at least 6 months validity and at least on blank visa page), a fully completed visa application form, a recent 2-inch passport-style photo
- For group tour(Group visas will usually be issued for groups with at least 5): passports(with at least 6 months validity) of all group members, A confirmation letter from a provincial tourist bureau or a government-authorized Chinese travel agency, a name list of the whole members of the tour group( for quadruplicate) and one copy of the information page of each passport

Note: Rush service and express service will charge extra fees.
- Rush service:extra 40 (1 working day)
- Express service: extra 30 (2–3 working days)
Cash payment is the only acceptable way to pay for visa fee.
Processing Time
The normal visa processing time is one week. The express service is 2–3 working days. The rush service is one working day. Travel agencies are not qualified to apply for three-day processing visa under special condition.
Visa Pick-Up
Visas can be picked up on the pick-up date specified in the receipt. The receipt must be presented. You can pay and pick up visas yourself or send an entrusted person or travel agency with the receipt. If your visa application is the urgent service, you should present the relevant receipt when you pick up it.

The embassy and the consulates generally have the same visa section office hours: 09:30am–12:30pm, Monday to Friday (except Chinese and Spanish holidays)
Holidays Schedule in 2011: New Year's Day, Spring Festival, Qingming Festival, Good Friday, International Labor Day, Dragon Boat Festival, Assumption Day, Mid-Autumn Festival, Chinese National Day, Hispanic Day, All Saints' Day, Constitution Day, Immaculate Conception, Christmas.
