1. Tourist (L) Visa Application
You may submit the application to the Visa Office of the Embassy. If you cannot go in person, you may entrust someone else or a travel/visa agent to transact your application affairs. No appointment is required. Mailed applications are not acceptable and will be returned. If an interview is required, you should go to the embassy in person.
If applicants live or work in the following Turkish provinces as Istanbul, Tekirdag, Kocaeli, Bursa, Baliksir, Cannakkale, Izmir, Manisa, Edirne, Kirklaeli, they should apply for visas at the Chinese Consulate General in Istanbul.
Documents Required
- A valid passport (with at least 6 months validity and at least on blank visa page);
- A neatly filled out L visa form;
- A recent passport-size photograph (black and white or color);
- Turkish Residence Permit for foreigners ( if the applicant is a citizen of the third country);
- Copy of information pages of the passport and Residence Permit;
- Documents that evidences financial capability of covering the traveling expenses in China;
- The air, train or ship tickets to the heading country/region after leaving China (when necessary).
Note: only a tourist group consisting of 5 or more persons could apply group visa via the authorized travel agency.

Processing Time
- The regular processing time is 4 working days (e.g. submission on Monday, pick up on Thursday).
- Express service: 2–3 working days processing( pick up after 4:30 pm), $20 will be charged per visa.
- Same day rush service: applications must submit the the documents before 12: 00 am (picked up after 4:30 pm on the same day), and $30 will be charged per visa.
Visa Pick-Up
Visas can be picked up on the pick-up date specified in the receipt. The receipt must be presented. Applicants can pay and pick up visas themselves or send an entrusted person or travel agency with the receipt.
2. Where to Apply
You need to choose the Visa Office of the Embassy or Consulate-General which holds consular jurisdiction over the state where you live. See figure below. Addresses, etc. follow the office hours info.
Office Hours
The embassy and the consulates generally have the same visa section office hours: 9:30 am–12:00 pm, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday ( except Chinese public holidays).
Holidays Schedule in 2011
The embassy will be closed on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Chinese public holidays, including New Year’s Day, Spring festival, Chinese Qingming Festival, International Labor Day, Chinese Dragon Boat Festival, Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival, and Chinese National Day.
