1. Tourist (L) Visa Application

You may submit the application to the Visa Office of the Embassy or Consulate-General which holds consular jurisdiction over the district where you live in. If you cannot go in person, you may entrust someone else or a travel/visa agent to transact your application affairs. No appointment is required. Mailed application is not accepted.

If you want to travel to Tibet, you need to acquire the consent of the Tourism Administration of the Tibet Autonomous Region or any one of its foreign representative offices.

Documents Required

For individual: A valid passport (with at least 6 months validity and at least on blank visa page), a fully completed visa application form, a recent 2-inch passport photo (bareheaded and full-faced), documents which explain and prove your reason to enter China (when necessary) and air, train or ship tickets to heading country after leaving China (when necessary)
For group tour(Group visas will usually be issued for groups with at least 5):A confirmation letter from a provincial tourist bureau or a government-authorized Chinese travel agency, a name list of the whole members of the tour group( for triplicate) and one copy of the information page of each passport

Payment Method

Cash is not accepted for payment. After you get the Pick-Up Form at the consular section, you should go to any branch of Millennium Bank to pay for the required fees and take the Deposit Receipt.

Processing Time

The normal processing is 4 working days. The express service is 2–3 working days. The rush service is one working day. Extra fees are charged for express and rush service.

Visa Pick-Up

You should go to the visa office of embassy in person to pick up your visa on the pick-up date specified in the receipt. When you collect your visa, you should show the Deposit Receipt and Pick-Up Form to consular officials.
