I would like to book a trip from Dalian to Harbin (fast train). Then to Hailar on the next day and maybe stay a day before going to jiagedaqi. From jiagedaqi, I wish to travel to Dalian.Does this trip seem feasible? I would like to travel February 9- 13. I would like soft sleeper for most of trip. I have been to Harbin. Would I find it more interesting for a day in Hailar or jiagedaqi?ThanksMike

Asked by Mike Baldwin on Jan. 24, 2013
Whitney Liao (Jan. 27, 2013) replied:
Hi Mike, this trip is feasible. However, I suggest that you change for another time to travel. Because February 9- 13 is the beginning of the Spring Festival in China, the train tickets are not easy to obtain.

how many hours we will take from guangdong, china to yabuli? what is the mode of transportation?

Asked by lucien on Jan. 19, 2013
Delia Xie (Jan. 20, 2013) replied:
Yabuli is a small town with few trains available, and there is no train available for Guangzhou (Guangzhou or Shenzhen) to Yabuli. You could take train from Guangzhou to Harbin which is most convenience connection, which takes 38 hours if T236 train ticket is available otherwise K1123 takes more than 48 hours, then connect with train from Harbin to Yabuli that takes 3-4.5 hours. It could be a very long drive on the train, especially that sleeper tickets are difficult to obtain during Jan and Feb (winter vacation and Chinese New Year). I suggest that you could take flight to Harbin first, and then transfer/train to Harbin.

I had read that Beijing, Harbin, and Hainan would be the best places to go! http://trip-per.com/blog/index.php/the-best-winter-tourist-destinations-in-china/. Is this true? Where should I go to have the best winter in China?

Asked by sam on Jan. 17, 2013
Whitney Liao (Jan. 18, 2013) replied:
Hi Sam, yes, quite true. Beijing and Harbin are the most popular cities for ski resorts and ice & snow festival. While Hainan is the warmest place during winter in China. Besides, there are beautiful sea and beaches.

Hi Cindy, it depends on the weather condition.  Usually the snow melts in late February. If the cold weather lasts to early March, then it is possible to see the Ice and Snow Festival on 5th March.
