Hi, I would like to know if the Ice Festival will be open and have lights and so on before the official inauguration on January 5th 2013? For example if I go on January 3th, would I see the laterns and ligths? Also I want to know if the flights from Harbin to Beijing go normally or if there is often problems and delays because of the snow? I just need to plan because I have an international flight from Beijing, which I can''t miss.ThanksLuisa

Dear Sir or Madam,

The openning ceremony of the Ice Festival will be held on Jan.5, but you could see the laterns, lights, snow sculptures and ice sculptures on Jan.3.

In general, the flights won't be affacted by the weather. You also could take a train to get to Harbin. It takes about 8 hours.

If you haven't not booked a tour yet, please feel free to let me know your travel plan, I am glad to design an itinerary for you.

Six days are enough for tour to Beijing and Harbin, you can spend two days in Harbin and 4 days in Beijing, there are only two nights trains between Beijing and Harbin, I think it will be very popular to get the tickets as Harbin is very popular in January. You can also take flight.

Hi Hetal, the temperature in Harbin in January is from -13 °C to -25 °C (8 °F-13 °F). You need to prepare feather/padded overcoats, thick sweaters, hats, scarves, gloves and boots.  You can travel with kids, take them to the snow and ice festival and the Great Wall, but do keep them warm enough.  There is no clothes on rent. You can buy them from Wangfujing Business Center 王府井商业圈 in Beijing.

Recommended Stores: Beijing Department Store, New Dong'an Bazaar and several time-honored Chinese brands

Transportation: Take buses 103, 104 and 420 or subway line 1 and get off at Wangfujing Stop
