Dear Mellisa, We can arrange an English speaking tour guide for you, the cost is CNY390/US$64 per day(around 8 hours). Dear Andy Tan, Some of the scenic spots are far from the down town, so it is not easy to quote to you at present. Could you please let me know which spots you would like to visit? In addition, our driver will serve you about 8 hours per day, there is an extra fee if you would let him serve you more time. Our driver only speak Chinese, if you don't speak Chinese, we need to arrange an English speaking guide for you. Please feel free to let me know the details. My e-mail is lussie@chinahighlights.net

What about the night coaches from Shangri-La to Kunming and/or Lijiang to Kunming, what are the schedule, when do they leave Shangri-La/Lijiang and at what time do they arrive in Kunming? Also is the schedule reliable? Thanks a lot.

We are a party of two-possibly three- adults (parents and daughter) from England and we wish to travel by air from Diqing airport to Kunming on 27th July 2014. We are staying at a hostel in Pijiang Po, Zhongdian. How far is this from the airport and what is the best means of getting there please? Also what are the times and costs of flights? How long before departure do we need to check in at the airport?

Lussie Lu (Jul. 9, 2014) replied:
Dear Anna, It is about 6 km from the airport to your hostel. You could take a taxi to get to the hostel. It takes about 20 minutes and it costs about CNY30/US$5. I suggest you go to the airport for check-in 1.5 hours before departure. There are six flights on Jul. 27 from Deqing(also named Zhongdian) to Kuming. It sets off at 8:50am, 9:40am, 10:00am, 23:40pm, 22:50pm and 14:05pm. The cheapest one costs US$131 per person, excluding the tax. It is my first time to Kunming but I have heard horror stories about toilets - no doors, no proper flush system, no tissue..... are they true?

Dear Julie, In some remote area, the condition of toilet is simple. It might be that as you said, but in the hotels, it is good than the pubic toilet. The tour guide also will inform you some good ones.

Hi I am currently living in Guangzhou. I wanted to travel to Kunming or Sichuan province this summer. Which is better to visit this time of year? I heard some fire has burnt the old city in Dali and not recommend to visit.. Is this true? Please recommend an itinerary for around 8 days for 2 adults and a 6 yr old boy.

Dear Nicola, A summary of the weather of Chengdu might read "an early spring, a hot summer, a cool autumn and a warm (relative to surrounding areas) winter". The best periods to visit Chengdu are from March to June, and September to November. Kunming is given the nickname "Spring City". The average yearly temperature is about 15 °C (59 °F). The pleasant weather of Kunming makes it suitable for traveling all year round, though tourists prefer the liveliest period from March to October, when there are many festivals and events. As you said, there was a fire in Dali town. Some of the houses was destroyed. But I think it wont' affect your trip, some of our clients visited there after the fire. There are other some good places, such as Ehai Lake, Three pagodas, Houses of Bai People in Xizhou. About the tour package, our travel adviser will send you an e-mail to inform you. Please check it.
