Dear Kschoo, The best time for visiting Xintianxiang is May, Sepember, November and December. You could go to Kunming New North Bus station to take a bus (9:00AM to 5:00PM per day) to Dongchuan County. The bus do not have fix schedule. It takes around 2.5 hours and CNY22 per person. When you arrive in Dongchuan County, only private owned mini bus to Red Soil (Xintinxiang), 40 minutes and CNY12 per person. Accommodations in Xintianxiang are quite basic and only can be book when you are there. Nancy

Hi. I should be arriving to Yunnan within a weak, according to the flight I booked from Beijing to Lijiang. However, I am doubting wether I should forget about the trip, since I have been reading the news about the flood in Yunnan and I am starting to get worriede. I would like to visit Lijiang, Kunming and Dali, and maybe the Tiger Leaping Gorge. Is it a good idea, or would it be better to forget about it given the current conditions? Thanks!

Hi, I think it is fine to visit Yunnan, we do not get any information from our local agency in Yunan regarding to the effect of the flood. Please feel free to contact us if you need any arrangement or help of your Yunnan tour. Have a nice day! Lee
Mengfei (Aug. 23, 2010) replied:
Hi! I was in Yunnan about 2 1/2 months ago, and I loved it! I am not sure what the rain condition was now, but I know the big storm in June missed Yunnan completely. I spend a week in Lijiang and a day in Dali, so I can't say I know the place well, but Tiger Leaping Gorge is currently under construction and only a portion (the leaping tiger portion) of the park is accessible (a few km of hiking trail). Supposedly the scenery is better seen from the opposite side, but if you only want a taste of the place, it is still worth a trip. Hope that helps!

how far from Chongqing how do i get there.plane. train. bus

Asked by g.demaine on Aug. 17, 2010
Mia Yang (Aug. 18, 2010) replied:
Hello. Do you mean how to get to Kunming from Chongqing? You can get to Kunming by flight, which takes no more than one and a half hours. Every day there are more than 10 flights, very convenient. You can search and book tickets at http://www.chinahighlights.com/china-flights/ You can also take train, but it takes about 20 hours, in addition, it is now the summer holiday, it is not very easy to obtain train tickets. Because the two cities are too far from each other, I'm afraid that buses are not available. So I suggest you take a flight. If you have further inquiries or need tour services in China, feel free to send us your inquiry to service@chinahighlights.com, our professional travel advisors will reply to you within 24 hours.

I would like to wisit the forest stone by Kunming, and want to go by bus or train. Is it possible? Is there a city or a village in this area where I can spend one night?

Asked by Mosbah on Aug. 13, 2010
Nancy Deng (Aug. 14, 2010) replied:
Dear Mosbah, There is no direct bus from Kunming to Stone Forest, you need to take an express bus from Kunming to Shilin County at first and then take a taxi to Stone Forest with 20-30 minuets driving from Shilin County. You also could take the train NO. K366/K363 (Dep 11:50-Arr 13:26) from Kunming to Stone Forest, but train tickets is very hard to get for short distance driving. The accommodations around Stone Forest are quite basic, it is advisable go back to Kunming at the same day. May I suggest you take a one day private tour to Stone Forest from Kunming? We can arrange an English-speaking tour guide with a private car to get there, the price is around US$102 per person for a group of 2 persons. Please click this link to get more information: http://www.chinahighlights.com/kunming/day-trips/the-stone-forest-tour.htm If you wish China Highlights to arrange a private tour for you, you could submit an order form online or send your enquiry to cotact@chinahighlights.com, you could get a reply in 1 working day.
