Where do I suppose to get my bus from Kunming to Dali? Some say there are buses depart from South Bus Station and some say the best is West Bus Station 马街西部客运站 which is more organized. Any suggestions?

Hi, I am planning a trip to Yunan this August. I arrive Kunming on Aug 3rd and have a departing flight on Aug 10th. I have been to Kunming and Lijiang 2 yrs ago and this time i plan to visit Kunming, Dali, Lijiang and Shangrila. Can you tell me what is the best way of moving around, and is it advisable to travel by land from Kunming to Dali then to Lijiang and finally to Shangri la, then fly from Shangri la to Kunming for my departing flight? There are 4 adults travelling this trip. Is there any local tours that we can rely on upon arrival at Kunming?

Hi I am planning to take my parents (74) and my daughter (15) to Kunming for a 6 days 5 nights trip. I don''t want anything too hectic but an easier pace, private and we can sample more local cultures and food. Also if you can recommend a good location hotel with 4* rating. I need to ensure comfort and safety for the family. Can you advise on itinerary and costs?

Dear Whitney Thank you for getting back to me so quickly. The proposed dates would be 26th Oct to 1 Nov. we can probably extend a little if need be. However, I understand that Lijiang is very beautiful and would like to see that too, provided it is not too far from Kunming. We will be 4 persons in total, will need 2 rooms, king size beds. I would love to meet more the locals. How far is Kunming from Lijiang, can it be a day trip? Prefer to stay in one hotel throughout the period. Thank you
Whitney Liao (Jul. 4, 2013) replied:
Hi Karen, thanks for your inquiry. We are specializing in tailor making private tour for our customers. You will have your private van and English speaking tour guide. No other people will join you. We can ensure you the comfort and safety for your  family. Your tour will be quite flexible. If you want to stay in one place longer or shorter, or make a minor change(e.g. adding something or skipping something) on the schedule during the tour, it is no problem. I will arrange a considerate tour guide for you who will take good care of your parents and your young daughter. Besides visiting the fantastic attractions, your tour guide will also take you to visit a local family. You can talking with them or even eat with them, to get a deep understand of their daily life and culture. How do you think? Before I make the itinerary and quotation, could you please let me know: 1. How many people are there in your group? Is it 3 or 4, please? How many rooms would you like me to arrange? 2. Is your destination fixed in Kunming? Or you would also like to extend to the neighboring city such as Dali or Lijiang? I will send you the itinerary as soon as possible after your further information, okay?  Thanks, Whitney

Dear Neelanjana, As far as I know, there is one shop at No. 21 Wujing Road(吴井路21号), but I am not sure if they can accept US dollars. In general, most of the shops only accept RMB, you'd better change some money in advance.

Lussie Lu (Jun. 27, 2013) replied:
Dear James, In general, it is impossible to see the snow in Lijiang city, the average temperature is about 5-25℃(41-77℉), it's usually sunny. If you would like to see teh snow, you could visit the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. Hi, we are three French backpackers, and will spend 3 days in SiChuan in two weeks. We will arrive from BeiJing by train and we want to visit Chengdu Pandas Breeding and Research Center, HuangLong and JiuZhaiGuo.The order doesn''t matter, the only constraints are the price (we are students so we need to book hostels and take buses) and the time (3 days). Thus, we would like to know how, according to you, to organize everything..? Plus, after those three days, we planned to go to KunMing (by train from Chengdu) to visit YunNan for about 6 days. What would you recommend us (and in which order, as well). Thank you for your help.

I suggest that you take air from Chengdu to Jiuzhaigou. From Jiuzhaigou to Huanglong, take bus.

Hi I am a french backpacker and I have exactly the same plan lolll... Can I have your contact ??
Whitney Liao (Jun. 24, 2013) replied:
Hi Marianne, 3 days by train or bus cannot cover the tour to Chengdu, Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong. The bus takes about 10-12hrs from Chengdu to JIuzhaigou. And usually you need 2 days for Chengdu, 2 days for Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong.
