Hi, good morning. I would like to travel from shanghai to Kunming/yunnan and to visit Lijiang River. Please kindly advise the most efficient route. Many thanks for your kind help. Warm regards, Richard

Hi Richard, either from Shanghai to Kunming or from Kunming to Lijiang, there is a long distance. So both recommend plane as transportation. Between Kunming and Lijiang, Dali is also highly recommended. Then you can fly to Dali first from Kunming, and drive to Lijaing from Dali. We are very glad to send you a detailed itinerary, please let me know below the information: 1.  Number of people in your group including yourself 2.  Length of stay in China 3.   Inbound / outbound city 4.   Starting date of the tour 5.   Class of Hotel: 3 / 4 / 5 star 6.   Estimative total budget per person

Hello Agnes, in September, the average low and high temperatures are respectively 15 °C (59 °F) and 23 °C (73 °F). The rainy months have ended and the weather is fine. T-shirts and long trousers are appropriate for September, and with a moderate wind, it is not too hot or too cool. It is definitely a good time to visit the places you mentioned during September. I am glad to recommand you a proposal if you could tell me how many persons are there in your group.

I am an avid gardener and would love to visit Lijiang to see the flowers. Would March be a good time for me to visit and see Spring blossoms?

Whitney Liao (Oct. 21, 2012) replied:
Hi Jill, March is a good month to visit Lijiang but not the best. The temperature difference during the day remains large, with a hot sun that shines strong. The temperature in the morning and evening is between 4 °C (39.2 °F) and 6 °C (42.8 °F) while it can hit 16 °C (60.8 °F) and 20 °C (68 °F) during the day. I suggest that you go in April, while the weather is warmer and the flowers are blooming.

Whitney Liao (Oct. 9, 2012) replied:
Hi Ginnie, During November in Kunming, Dali and Lijiang, from the previous report, the temperature difference between day and night is quite large. The hottest time of the day can reach 19 °C (66 °F) and at night the temperature can fall to between 7° C (45 °F) and 8 °C (47 °F), or even 5 °C (41 °F) to 6 °C (43 °F). If it rains during the day, the temperature falls even further to between 5 °C (41 °F) and 10 °C (50 °F). Autumn and winter clothing, such as coats and sweaters are essential for staying warm. The weather is dry so use soothing moisturizer. You can also check the up to date information for each city via this website: http://www.weather.com.cn/english/ For local food, just go to the local restaurants, not tourism restaurants, then you can taste delicious foods. If you need any tour service, please feel free to contact me.

Lai, Yunnan Province is very rich in travel resources, minority culture or ancient towns. So do you have an idea for where to go and what to see? Tentatively i forward the 7-day tour package to Kunming, Dali and Lijiang http://www.chinahighlights.com/tour/kunmingtour/km-4/. This is package tour is a private tour service, which means you will have your own private car and personal English speaking tour guide at each city, also i can tailor made the tour to meet your needs and interests, so just feel free to contact me. I am planning to visit Shangrila and Dahli, Lijiang on Oct 20 for 8 days. How should I dress? Is it cold?

Michael Hu (Oct. 4, 2012) replied:
Hi Tom, October is a little cool and it rains less. The maximum temperature is 20 °C (68 °F) and the minimum temperature is 12 °C (54 °F). Besides wearing T-shirt and long trousers, bring a cardigan or coat for the early mornings and evenings. Ultraviolet radiation is strong, so wear sunscreen with SPF 20 and PA++ to protect your skin.

We are planning to leave Xi''an and go to Li Jiang, from there to Shanghai. We could fly from Xi''an to Li Jiang. Would you also recommend flying from Li Jiang to Shanghai. Seems a long way to go by train. Or, train from Xi''an and fly to Shanghai?

Whitney Liao (Oct. 5, 2012) replied:
Hi Pauline, the train from Xi'an to Li Jiang or from Lijiang to Shanghai takes more than 40hrs. So it is not suggested to take the train. And the train from Xian to Shanghai takes 14-20hrs. If you have interest, you can try. But personally, we don't suggest.
