I am planning a trip in April of this year by myself. I will have a passport. What else will I need to stay in Zhuhai for about a week? I am also looking into accommodations for that amount of time, can you tell me of some places with moderate rates? What currency will I need. This will be my first trip to China. Will I need any adapters for electric items? What is public transportation like there? How are the local shops, can I use my Visa/debit card there? Will I need local currency for things? Where can I get currency exchanged? Should I use travelers cheques? Any and all information you can give me will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time. Bob Ferranti

Hi Robert, you need a China visa for going to Zhuhai. For accomodation, you can check the hotels in Zhuhai via here: http://www.chinahighlights.com/hotel/zhuhai-hotels/

The currency used in China is CNY/RMB. You can have your moeny exchanged at the Money Changers or most of the banks like Bank of China, ABC(Agricultural Bank of China), ICBC(Industrial and Commercial Bank of China).

The public transportation is bus in Zhuhai. It is convenient. Taxi is also available.

Usually the local shops don't accept visa/debit card / travelers cheques, but some supermarkets accept it.

You can change/withdraw it in cash for payment.

Dear Sir or Madam,

You could visit Macau, then take a bus from Macau to Guangzhou directly. There are some buses every day. You could take a bus at Grand Lisboa Hotel. It takes about 3.5 hours and it costs about US$24 per person.

You could stay in Macau without a visa for 30 days, but you need a China visa to enter mainland China.

For apply for a visa, I suggest you ask more information from Chinese Embassy in your country. Here is their official website. Please click: http://www.chinese-embassy.org.za/eng/sgxxss/

Hi, how much is the express link from macau airport to gongbei? is that the best way, and also how to get to zhuhai north railway station from gongbei and how long it take by cab and estimate fare. Thank you.

Nancy Deng (Jan. 11, 2013) replied:

Dear Jennice,

It cost around CNY30-40 per person to take the express bus line from Macau Airport to Gongbei. It is the most economic way since taxi fee is higher in Macau. It takes nearly 1 hour and CNY100-150 by taxi from Zhuhai North Railway Station to Gongbei. You are suggested to take the subway instead. Please go to Zhuahai North Subway Station and choose the Line No. K1 and take to terminus (Hua Run Wan Jia). After you arrive, you just keep walking few minutes to Gongbei.

Dear Sir or Madam,

You need to take a train at Guangzhou south railway station, which is about 24 km from your hotel. You'd better take a taxi to get there. It takes about 1-1.5 hours.

There are many trains from Guangzhou to Zhuhai every day. It takes about 1.5 hours and it costs about US$15 per person. When you arrive at Zhuhai railway station, you could take a taxi or No. K1 bus to Gongbei port, it is about 30 km.
