How long in advance do you recommend to book the cruise?
We recommend that you book as early as possible to secure your preferred ship. The Yangtze Cruise trip is very popular and ships fill quickly, especially in peak traveling seasons. Book early to avoid disappointment!
Yangtze Cruise Terms and Conditions
Yangtze River Cruise operators reserve the right to cancel a scheduled sailing if they do not receive enough bookings for the sailing. This situation is more likely to occur during July and August but can also occur in September and October. The cancellations can occur even though they have previously confirmed the reservation made by China Highlights for our customers. Cancellation of a sailing usually occurs 15-30 days before the scheduled date but can be as little as 7 days before the sailing.
In the event that a cruise is cancelled we will do everything possible to rebook immediately on another ship, so that inconvenience is minimized. It is possible that an additional expense may be applicable if the available ship is more expensive than that of the original booking.
Please be assured that these events are beyond our control but we are here to serve you and will do all in our power to make your trip as smooth as possible.
Can we get the cabin assignment on the cruise arranged early?
The ships do not assign cabins in advance. You may request a specific cabin on check-in in a similar way to airline check in however cabin allocation is at the discretion of the ship operators.
Can you arrange an extra bed in cruise?
Not all cruise ships are able to offer an extra bed, although most ships rating four stars and above have staterooms with larger space. You could ask your agent if the ship can provide it or not before your booking.
Do I get any insurance for the cruise?
On top of the travel insurance from your home country with specific overseas coverage, you will be automatically covered by the China Life Tourist Accident/Casualty Insurance up to a maximum of RMB 220,000 free of charge as an incentive for your purchasing cruises from China Highlights Travel.
Can I assign specific cabin before boarding?
What is “ single cabin supplemental fee”?
There are usually two beds in each cabin however if you request a private cabin, a single cabin supplemental fee is charged which is usually an extra 75% of the tickets price; some cruises charge 100% extra. China Highlights has no control of the supplemental fee, it is charged by the cruise companies. Different cruise companies have different rates. Please ask your travel advisor for more information. If you travel by yourself and do not ask for a private cabin, the cruise company will arrange place you in a cabin with a passenger of the same gender.
How much do I need to tip when I check for a Yangtze River Cruise?
Passengers from Southeast Asian are required to contribute RMB150 (US$24) tip per person for the Century or the CH Victoria cruises. The same amount will be asked for all passengers who take the Victoria Line cruise.
