We've been working with Delia with China Highlights over the internet many many many e-mails, but we worked out a fantastic tour. So far we are at the very beginning of our tour, but it's ticked all the boxes so far. And we are very very happy with china highlights. Everything is going to plan, the tour guides speaking good English and very very good, so very very helpful. We would recommend them to anybody. Thank you!
We would spend the extra time in Nanjing and Hangzhou, these were both lovely cities. There were so many memorable attractios including the Pandas, The Terracotta Warriors and the Leshan Giant Buddha. It was delightful to visit Lijiang and experience the Naxi Minority and others in their dress.
The guide were all excellent. Johnny in Beijing who related so well with us all. Echo in Xian who was so kind.Tony was one of our very favorite guides and we felt very sad to leave him. Li in Lijiang who was from the Naxi Minority and was so informative and so caring and kind. Michele in Chengdu, we enjoyed our time with her. Burnie in Shanghai was also excellent. Joe in Suzhou and Wuxi who was so caring and when he realized that I was very concerned about taking all our luggage on the train trip between Wuxi and Nanjing. Every driver was great and we could not fault any of them, we preferred the vans to the cars but every vehicle was safe and extremely clean.
Our favorite was the Crowne Plaza in Lijiang which was exceptionally good.We went shopping and we did have fun at the markets buying copies or take offs. We did buy a silk rug and Chinese cabinet from the Xian Art Ceramic Factory shop in Xian which was a great place to visit. In Beijing we enjoyed both The Silk Market and The Pearl Market. In Shanghai we enjoyed Tian Zi Fang Market it was very relaxed and pleasant to shop there.
Wow to Delia who right from the start made us feel comfortable with all the changes and suggestions until we really felt we had our itinerary correct. She at no stage made us feel like we were a nuisance and then to meet her was an extra bonus. Wow to Nero who worked so well with Jim to test the wireless router and also to meet him was an extra bonus.
Chengdu, you must go to The Sichuan Opera with the Changing Faces Show, it was amazing. Also in Guillin a must is the Dreamlike Lijiang show , the new ballet circus, this show was excellent.Every free time we got out and about in the cities that we were in and loved just sitting in the square of Lijiang and other cities and watching the ladies play cards and Marjong. We enjoyed our free time and always asked our guides where best to go to just experience the people and culture of what ever city we were in.We loved all the walking and got out and did lots of walking in our free time as well.
We loved all the local beers and we found the food and beer so cheap. We could not get over how much food that we got served every meal and how good it was.The phone rental was very convenient. We were really satisfied with the airport services.
