Overall it was A GREAT TRIP. I do not have any even mildly significant complaints. The planning and organisation of the trip (by you) was super efficient and fast. All our bookings and arrangements in Fujian went off perfectly.
Our two guides, Rory in Xiamen and Jiang at Wuyi, were excellent -- enthusiastic, cheerful, on time and hard working. We had little chance to test their English capability because we spoke to them in putonghua all the time. But I would note that Jiang is not very knowledgeable about the plants and geology of Wuyi which are my special interest. Our driver in Xiamen was excellent -- helpful and cheerful and careful, safe and smooth in his driving. The driver in Wuyi did an adequate job..
The two lunches you organised for us in Xiamen and Quanzhou were superb, among the best we ever had. The lunches at Wuyi did not come to the same standard as was to be expected in a out-of-way place. The quantity of food provided was overwhelming (far too much in fact). The hotels you provided us lived up to their star rating and our expectation.
As for the sight seeing; we were most impressed by the development of Xiamen and Quanzhou. and Wuyi was really nice. The only drawback was the huge crowds everywhere we went whether it was Gulangyu or Wuyi Shan. We should come in a non-peak period. But we took a side trip to the Green Dragon Fall and it was lovely and peaceful and most beautiful.
As I said, overall it was an excellent trip and we would be more than happy to make another trip with China Highlights. In fact, we have two future trips in our plans -- a 8/10 day visit to Suzhou/Hangzhou/Huangshan and a longer 'trip of a lifetime' in the form of an over-land drive into Tibet from Lishan and leaving Lhasa by the new railway to Chengdu. We shall contact you when our plans are more firm.
Best wishes and kindest regards.
