I wanted to write to thank you for coordinating what for me was an outstanding tour. You were always very professional and courteous, and once the trip started everything went like clockwork, leaving us with no concerns but to enjoy the experience. Thanks to you and all of the China Highlights team, including an outstanding series of guides and drivers as well as the logistics people such as train ticket buyers, etc. who worked on making this a most enjoyable tour.
We also really enjoyed having Sunny and Eva along for the time they were with us, and appreciated the concern they and other members of China Highlights showed in our well-being once we got to Tibet.
Well, it was a great trip! Favorite tour guides were Abdul in Kashgar and Tenzin in Tibet. Eva and Sunny were great travel companions, although Sunny certainly went overboard worrying about me going to Tibet with a cough.
I didn't have any problems at all. And, I'm still not sure the cough was a result of the heavy pollution we ran into in some places.
In fact, my breathing was best at the highest altitudes. Taryn had a problem a couple days but she thinks it was a drug interaction between the Diamox (high altitude medication) and something she was taking for her asthma. Also, she didn't react well to the incense in some of the temples. In any case, one day she didn't continue with Tenzin and me to the monastery but went back to the car to rest up. At that point, she quit the Diamox. She also had a problem with the pollution in Urumqi, but that was definitely her asthma.
It was great seeing all those different parts of China and Tibet has always been a dream of mine. It was also interesting to see the changes in Beijing, Xian and Shanghai since I was there in 2000. Back then, the bikes outnumbered the cars by far and now you don't see that many bikes there at all. And, Shanghai continues to grow and grow and grow. We were disappointed that the weather didn't cooperate for our view from that 100th floor observation tower. It was totally socked in. On the other hand, overall, we had great weather; couldn't have asked for better.
Thanks for all you effort in putting this trip together for us.
