Henry was my only tour guide and he was wonderful -- he even gave me a ride on the back of his electric scooter, which just might be my favorite experience of the entire trip because I felt like I was experiencing China traffic like a local resident would.

Who was the most outstanding tour guide? Why? Henry was my only tour guide and he was wonderful -- he even gave me a ride on the back of his electric scooter, which just might be my favorite experience of the entire trip because I felt like I was experiencing China traffic like a local resident would.

Did the drivers provide a safe, comfortable experience? Yes, Mr. Chen was very friendly, professional, courteous, and careful. Were the hotels & meals up to standard? Which did you enjoy most? The hotels were very nice and comfortable. The meals were okay. Even though I didn't like the bamboo rice at the village in the terraced rice fields, I am very glad to have tasted such a unique local dish.

We are trying to add extra WOW factor to our tours. Was there anything on you tour (big or small) that made you go “WOW”? The cooking class was a WOW but not in a good way. I was not expecting to see dogs and cats in the meat market and I will never forget how upset that made me. I also was surprised at how some of the kitchen procedures are so very different from Western kichen rules, and it made me question the safety of food I eat at all restaurants in China (for example, not washing knife, cutting board, and hands after chopping chicken -- maybe that's not as necessary as Western rules say it is, but that is what I have been taught).

Do you have any other comments about your time in China, and do you have any special suggestions you'd like to pass on to other travelers? Most of the people I met were very friendly, although the vendors were very loud and pushy. Barter hard -- I felt bad offering half of their original price but eventually learned that they'll often accept a quarter of the asking price because they start so high. Expect domestic flights to run late and their security rules to be different from the US and other countries. If you have an opportunity to ride on the back of an electric scooter through city streets, do it! Also try the foot massage, which is almost a whole body massage but with your clothes on.

Would you recommend our company to your friends? Yes, I always feel very well taken care of when I am on a China Highlights tour.
