Hi Simon,
I just got back from our trip because we also stayed in Doha Qatar for 2 days. We had a wonderful trip!
Hangzhou was very picturesque and indeed the west lake was amazing. Unfortunately the weather all three days was not good but that didn't really stop us to have a good time. The Buda temple was also very nice and the carvings on the rock were beautiful. When we reached the pagoda we were very tired but we climbed up the stairs anyway and the view was amazing.
The next day was amazing. The places we went were absolutely fantastic and the guide spoke very well english so we had very good conversations about China in general, education, health system housings etc. She was very good. The food was not good but that was our fault probably because we wanted to eat at three and the restaurants were closed at that time.
Overall it was a great holiday. I would suggest that maybe it would have been best to go back to Shanghai by train and go to the water village near Shanghai that we heard was better than the one we went.
But really thank you for all your effort to make this a good trip for us and it was. Please take my comments with the way they are meant and that is with all respect for your job and only wanting to give you impressions so that you can see the tours from our point of view.
