What our customers say on video
Hello. I arrange this trip to China mainly because I have been here 4 times before. This is probably the best trip I’ve ever had and I want to specially show my grandchildren the wonders of China. The trip has been great and China Highlights has been great.
I agree China Highlights has been wonderful. The tour guides are very friendly, very informatively. They let us go at our pace, slow down or speed up if we want to. We’ve had great sights and some lovely hotels. It’s been wonderful.
Well. I’m one of the grandchildren. This is my first and only time out of the country, so it is entirely new experience for me. I really like everything else presented to me. I really got so gained when I look at how I can really get to enjoy it. I’m really looking forward the next part of my trip. It’s only half done. It’s going by too fast for me.
I’m also one of the grandchildren. I really like all the tour guides have lots of knowledge about tons of different sites that we went to. And I really like the pandas.
I have to say that probably the tour guides are phenomenal; they are so friendly, very knowledgeable, and like John said, let us go on our own pace. Everything we’ve seen has been wonderful. It’s hard to pick up one favorite thing. It has been great.
I’m Karin’s husband and I’ve been here 3 or 2 times. This is a marvelous trip with the kids. China Highlights has been terrific. They are so flexible; allow us to change our itinerary with no problem at now. And the drivers, by the way, the car drivers have been delightful. They don’t speak English, but that’s part of the fun. The guides have been great to me because they allow me to speak a little bit Zhongguohua (means “Chinese”). All I want to say is Xie Xie Ni Men (means “Thank you”). Xie Xie.
Hi Grace,
First, I want to say that it was fantastic. We were all very pleased with the itinerary, guides, hotels, etc. It was even better than I had anticipated when planning it.
The tour was absolutely the best tour itinerary for our family. It was the perfect itinerary for first time visitors to China. Of course, Bob, Stacy & I had been to most of the places before, but our purpose was to introduce them to our grandchildren. And--we still enjoyed seeing these places a second or third time. The only things we would have eliminated from our itinerary were the visit to Elephant Trunk Hill and the drive by the Olympic Park. Perhaps this would have been more interesting if we had actually gone into the park, but, at our choice, we spent too much time in the Hutong shopping area. We would have enjoyed even more home or school visits.I think we have all agreed that the Great Wall of China was the most memorable attraction. My granddaughter also cites the Panda Research Center.
For the guide, I guess we would say that Tracy was the most outstanding. She was so friendly, knowledgeable, flexible and efficient. As our grandson said 'She rocks!' Of course, there was the problem with the flight time when leaving Guilin, but we don't know whose fault that was. In any case, she stood by and offered support until we were on our way. We were especially impressed with the efficient manner in which she got us into and out of the Impressions Light Show in Yangshuo--and her help in locating good shops in Yangshuo for the things we wished to purchase. The guides were all prompt and offered a high level of service.
For driver, the drivers in Beijing, Xi’an and Chengdu were somewhat aggressive, but we realize that this is the 'Chinese style of driving' in heavy traffic. The drivers in Guilin and Hong Kong seemed more calm and careful--but they didn't have to contend with the same type of traffic.
All the hotels were definitely up to standard. It's difficult to say which we enjoyed most, because they were all good in different ways. However, they all had the most important thing in common--a good location. The YMCA and the Park Plaza had especially good locations. The rooms were comfortable in all our hotels, with the YMCA in Hong Kong having the smallest, most basic rooms. However, we expected this--and it was great for the price. The breakfast was best in the YMCA Hotel, but very good in all the others with the Green Lotus coming in last in this area. The children were annoyed with the requirement to wear swim caps in the pool at the Green Lotus. However, the view was the best in the Green Lotus. We especially enjoyed the pool and the large rooms in the Guilin Bravo Hotel--but were disappointed at the lack of a view. Our children enjoyed the night at the Haiyatt Garden in Chengdu, but I was too tired that one night to take much notice. Our daughter & son-in-law's room layout at the Grand Noble in Xi'an was rather strange, with not much separation between the bathroom and bedroom. We would stay in all these hotels again.
The lunches were all good, with the most memorable being the lunch at the Longji Ping'an Restaurant in the minority village near the Longsheng rice terraces. The organic food and rice in bamboo were delicious--and we even had a Chinese firecracker welcome there (actually the dedication of a nearby restaurant).
We did some shopping, but appreciated that there were no required shopping stops. We did most of our shopping near the end of the trip--in Yangshuo and Hong Kong (Stanley Market, the Ladies Market, and the Golden Arcade), where we bought mostly inexpensive souvenir items and artwork. Emily gave us some very helpful tips in the beginning regarding bargaining and counterfeit money. Tracy was helpful in locating quality shops in Yangshuo specializing in the items we wanted to buy. My daughter and son-in-law bought a couple larger items at the Terra Cotta Warrior site--a large warrior and a celedon tea set. We felt that Wallace might have been steering us a little to certain shops. The only suggestion we have is to bargain hard.
Apart from the main attractions, I think our biggest WOW came with the Impressions Light Show in Yangshuo. And we all especially enjoyed the home and school visits--with a chance to see how real people live. We would encourage you to offer even more opportunities such as the visits to the Hutong home in Beijing, the fisherman and the Children's Palace in Guilin, and the countryside home near Yangshuo. In addition, Emily led us on a walk through a village near the Great Wall, but everything was locked up so we didn't see much. And, Tracy stopped at an extra minority village on the way to the Rice Terraces, but we walked through pretty quickly. So, these visits almost have to be planned ahead and built into the itinerary.
We had several generations in our family group--and there was something of interest to all of us--from the young teens to the grandparents--happening every day. We (the grandparents) had been to China a couple times before and were interested in the changes to China over the years. This was our grandchildren's first trip to Asia, and it was a great learning experience for them.
Regarding suggestions for future travelers, most of the attractions in our itinerary are 'not-to-be-missed'. We would also recommend the optional attractions of the Impressions Light Show in Yangshuo, the Tang Dynasty Show in Xi'an, the foot massage in Guilin, and the bamboo rafts on the Yulong near Yangshuo.A general suggestion is to bring the correct electricity adaptor along--3 flat prongs with 2 of them angled.
We will definitely recommend your company for the value for money, trustworthiness, dependability, flexibility, problem solving etc, actually for all of these points.
We've looked at the video you took of us when we visited you. Good job!
Thank you for a great trip!
