Dear Coco,
We are back from our wonderful trip to China and I want to let you know that I have traveled a lot, and China is one of the most exciting places that I have been. The tour was superb, well planned and it had a little of everything, nature, beautiful cities. The hotels were all beautiful, specially the Hilton, the Shangri-la and the Peace in Shanghai. Delicious breakfasts and perfect locations. The guides were all great also, specially Lily in Guilin. If you want to know the order in which we liked our guides is: 1-Lily 2-Rita and Jerry 3-Ijng 4- Lisa. They went out of their way to accomodate us and were really good about it. Their command of english was good and also their knowledge of local history an customs. We specially liked the visit to local family houses. I think our favorite was Guilin, maybe.because of Lily. The only thing we did not enjoy was the museum in Huangshan, the sales pitch of the director was a little uncomfortable. The flight to Shanghai was too late, but I guess you had no choice in that. I would suggest coming down from the mountain early and maybe go by car, I heard it is only 6 hours. Lunches were very good, ones better than others, but 17 days is too much for local food when you are not used to it. I would suggest that a couple of times you would offer the choice of western food. We were dying for a pizza or a hamburger. The chauffeurs were very good., although of course we did not talk to them. They drove safely and were very courteous and friendly.
To end I want to tell you again that the trip was outstanding. It exceeded all of our expectations!!!!!!!
